Safe working guidelines for electrical workers and apprentices (Feb 2025)

Electrical accidents and fatalities have occurred when electrical workers were not adequately supervised. Such incidents are preventable.

Both the employer and the electrical apprentice have the responsibility to maintain safe work practices, for the benefit of the individual worker and for the benefit of others.

Both employers and apprentices are also responsible to ensure that an electrician’s training licence is obtained before the apprentice carries out any electrical work. An apprentice must obtain an electrician’s license, at the completion of their apprenticeship, before they can carry out electrical work lawfully as a tradesperson.
